Melle’s competition, The historical competition, will take place on Saturday June 18, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It is organized by the national association of Poitou mule breeds (UPRA). The UPRA organizes breeding competitions in the cradle of the Baudet du Poitou and Trait poitevin breeds.

These breeding competitions bring together young donkeys and colts from 1 to 3 years old, as well as breeding stallions and females followed by their foals or colts, belonging to breeders from several departments. Donkeys and horses are judged on their correspondence to the breed standard (pattern).

To date, 16 Poitou donkeys and 20 Poitevin draft horses have entered this competition.

Christine will present Freya and Melchior and Galipette de Ré et Milord in the “Aness with foal” category, which means that the mother (on a loin) is presented with a calf (free). There are 4 donkeys registered in this category.
